Meet Haluan

Housed under Bayanihan, formerly known as the Filipino Student Association, Haluan is the only competing Hip Hop Dance team at UCSC. Haluan performs at numerous events on campus such as the Holi Festival and participates in competitions such as Collaboration NorCal. Haluan also hosts the En Route Urban Dance Showcase, the only exhibition show if its kind in the area. We strive to foster an environment of inclusivity and creativity through our shared love for Dance.

Kennedy Bagnol

Kennedy has been dancing ever since he was 5. Initially trained in ballet, jazz, and tap, he discovered hip hop at the age of 11 and has continued his hip hop training ever since. He was on TM Jrs, UG, and was captain of his All Male team his senior year. He has trained with David Lee, Jeffery Caluag, Elm Pizarro and many more notable figures in the dance community. He lives, breathes, and eats dance and he cannot wait to start this year as co-coordinator of Haluan

Sabrina Baños

Sabrina Baños has been dancing since the age of seven and has spent most of her dance career training in styles such as ballet, contemporary, jazz funk, and hiphop. For two years she served as Dance Captain of Orchesis Dance Company in her high school. She is a proud employee of the United Spirit Association (USA) as part of their summer dance staff, and acts as a judge at USA competitions throughout the season. She is extremely grateful to have the opportunity to lead this year’s Haluan alongside such talented co-coordinators.

Stacy Orellana

Stacy Orellana has trained in many styles of dance such as ballet, hip hop, jazz and contemporary, but she enjoys the overall atmosphere of the urban hip hop dance community the most. Stacy lead her varsity dance and hip hop team at Thousand Oaks High School and got to work with amazing choreographers such as Beau Fournier, Ricky Lam and Marissa Osato during her time there. Stacy is inspired by hip hop crews such as Cookies, The Company, ACA, and Brotherhood because they tell stories through dance, which is exactly what she strives to achieve with Haluan.

EnRoute 2018

Founded in 2015, En Route is an annual urban dance showcase held at Cabrillo College Crocker Theater and hosted by Haluan Hip-Hop Dance Troupe. The goal of this showcase is to inspire individuals to pursue their passion, promote urban dance in Santa Cruz, and strengthen ties with the large dance community of California.
